Tyra Banks discussed how 'America's Next Top Model' didn't always 'get it right' at a speech made during Essence's Black Women in Hollywood awards.

Tyra Banks admitted to saying some "dumb sh*t" on her hit model competition reality show, but she didn't hesitate sharing the show's impact.

Tyra Banks didn't always "get it right" on "America's Next Top Model," she told attendees at the ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood Awards, adding: "I said some dumb s–t." Banks was the event's first Luminary Spotlight honoree on Feb.

"We fought to bring diversity to that television show at a time when it didn’t exist, a time when people in the fashion industry were telling me, 'Oh, you putting girls from the hood on your show?' " Banks said.

Let's be honest, we've all spent far too many hours rewatching America's Next Top Model and collectively gasping at just how wild it all was. For years now, social media has been dragging the show for its deeply problematic content (for good reason), and finally, Tyra Banks has acknowledged the criticism. Well... kind of.
