The race for Maine's 2nd Congressional District has now officially gone to ranked choice voting. That tabulation process began in Augusta Tuesday afternoon.

Maine’s Department of the Secretary of State started the process of running a ranked-choice tabulation for the 2nd Congressional District race Tuesday that is likely to take multiple days to complete.

The ranked choice voting tabulation is a public process that will begin next week in Augusta. Under ranked choice voting, if no candidate receives at least 50% plus one vote in the first round, the lesser choices of the last-place finisher’s supporters are reallocated to establish a majority.
