Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick claimed President Donald Trump has the upper hand in tariffs against China because the U.S. buys more of its products than the Chinese buy American. Lutnick’s analysis comes weeks after China filed a lawsuit against the U.

President Donald Trump is on the verge of slapping new tariffs on Canada and Mexico while doubling a levy on China, moves that would dramatically expand his push to reshape the US economy, tap new revenues and upend ties with the biggest US trading partners.

The American president will hit the US' closest neighbors with 25 percent, while China will get smacked with a 10 percent tariff.
