The family of Kevin Finkbonner is questioning why he was in the water for more than an hour before rescuers arrived to the site of the sinking near Point Roberts.

Seven people suspected of being in the country illegally were taken into federal custody Saturday, Aug. 16, off the coast of Newport Beach. Officials with the U.S. Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach received a report around 9 p.m. requesting a boarding after a patrol of a 20-foot ship with seven people aboard, according to the Coast Guard.
