The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) today said the United States has 1,912 confirmed measles cases so far in 2025, an increase of 84 cases since last week and a bad sign as holiday gatherings, travel, and indoor activities is set to pick up in the final weeks of the year.
Across the country, there have been more than 1,900 measles cases this year, according to new numbers released by the CDC. Meanwhile in South Carolina, health officials report more than two dozen new cases across the state since Friday.
Nationally, the measles case count is nearing 2,000 for a disease that has been considered eliminated in the U.S. Many of those cases are in South Carolina.
According to a report, Connecticut is dealing with its first measles case since 2021, after a child, who is not vaccinated, contracted the virus while traveling internationally.
The Connecticut Department of Public Health today said it has confirmed a case of measles in a Fairfield County child who is younger than 10 years old. It is the first cases of measles confirmed in the state in more than four years, according to DPH.
