The Falcons are optimistic about QB Michael Penix Jr. returning after missing a game because of a bone bruise in his knee, while WR Drake London is also day-to-day.

The Falcons got blown out by the Dolphins with quarterback Michael Penix on the sideline last Sunday and his status will be of chief concern as they move toward their Week 9 trip to New England.

The Atlanta Falcons are expected to start Kirk Cousins at quarterback in Week 8 vs. the Miami Dolphins, CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones reports, while Michael Penix Jr. remains sidelined with a bone bruise in his knee. It would be the veteran signal-caller's first start in more than 10 months since his benching.

Penix was drafted eighth overall in the 2024 NFL Draft. After sitting for 14 games behind veteran Kirk Cousins, Penix was given his first career start in a Week 15 matchup against the New York Giants. Penix has been Atlanta’s starter since.

Williams has been a bit banged up for Clemson so far this season, but when healthy, he is one of the more dependable wide receivers in the 2026 class. At 5-11 and 190 pounds, Williams is a slot receiver with tremendous short area quickness and football IQ. Combining his skill set with Drake London could be a wonderful pairing.
