The New York Giants play host to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday in a battle of teams missing multiple star players on both sides of the ball.
This latest performance continues a troubling trend for a Giants defense that was supposed to be excellent. And while its secondary was shorthanded Sunday — no Cor’Dale Flott, Paulson Adebo or Jevon Holland — this was yet another underwhelming mess from coordinator Shane Bowen’s group.
Mac Jones, Christian McCaffrey and the Niners made winning look easy against the Giants. It won’t always work that way.
Kicker Eddy Piñeiro's 33-yard FG boosts San Francisco 49ers' lead to 20-7 vs. Giants. Houston Texans kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn converts on a 40-yard field goal that barely sneaks through the right upright to extend the Texans lead over the Denver Broncos to 12-7
The 49ers on Sunday scored 20 unanswered points after Dart and Co. got a touchdown on the opening drive. The Giants never got closer than 10 for the remainder of the game, as San Francisco scored touchdowns on its first two fourth-quarter drives, to go up 27-10 and then 34-17.
