Top Border Patrol chief Gregory Bovino, who oversees the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown in the Chicago area, appeared before US District Judge Sara Ellis on Tuesday after she received reports federal agents were not following her order to limit aggressive tactics and warn protesters and journalists before using tear gas and less-lethal munitions.

U.S. District Judge Sara Ellis ordered Gregory Bovino, who appeared in his Border Patrol uniform, to report to her each weekday at 6 p.m. with information about the day’s confrontations.

Mayor Brandon Johnson called U.S. Border Patrol commander Gregory Bovino a “barbaric individual” who needs to be held to “some level of accountability.”
