Current eruptive activity began with a small eruption that occurred on Sunday night and paused after an hour, according to Hawaiian Volcano Observatory. Located on a remote section of the middle East Rift Zone in Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, just west of Nāpau Crater, the eruption restarted at 6 p.m. on Monday.

A Hawaiian island has been showered with 32ft-high lava fountains from an active volcano. The eruption of Kilauea, one of the world’s most active volcanoes, began on Sunday in a remote area on the southern tip of Hawaii Island.

Videos from the U.S. Geological Survey showed lava spewing from a fissure in the volcano, into the Nāpau Crater in the middle of the volcano's East Rift Zone.
