The New York Jets signed Fields in 2025 in the hope he could be either a bargain franchise quarterback or a viable bridge to the future.

The New York Jets have agreed to a trade that will send quarterback Justin Fields to the Kansas City Chiefs, a person familiar with the deal told The Associated Press on Monday.

Fields flopped in his only year as the Jets starter, after seemingly rejuvenating his career by going from Bears draft bust to Steelers game manager (4-2 as a starter) in 2024.
