TOWN OF ROME, Wis. (WSAW) - Below freezing temperatures in the coming days may keep some people indoors, but for winter sports enthusiasts, the cold weather signals the start of snowmobile season.
Wisconsin is considered the birthplace of the snowmobile, invented by Carl Eliason in 1924. The state has over 200,000 registered snowmobiles and an estimated 25,000 miles of groomed trails.
