Whether you forgot an essential or are planning to do some early Black Friday shopping, find out Target will be open this Turkey Day.

Thanksgiving is here, which for millions of Americans means spending time with friends and family and eating delicious food. While banks and post offices will be closed on the holiday, some grocery , retail and restaurant chains will remain open on Thanksgiving, albeit mostly with adjusted hours.

The next federal holiday coming up this year is Thanksgiving 2025, which falls on Thursday, Nov. 27. On the bigger federal holidays, particularly those at the end of each year, many stores choose to close along with banks and federal and state offices. Target tends to choose which holidays to observe throughout the year, like most stores.

All BJ’s stores and gas stations will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. BJ’s will reopen on Friday at 7 a.m. Most Walgreens stores will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, according to its website. However, Walgreens that operate 24 hours will stay open.

Drug stores can be another option for shoppers. Again, hours can vary and it’s best to check ahead, especially if you need a prescription filled. Most CVS stores will be open on Thanksgiving. Walgreens has a different schedule. Non-24 hour Walgreens locations will be closed; 24-hour locations will remain open.
