Shocking satellite images reveal the path of destruction left by the UPS cargo plane that crashed and bust into flames in Kentucky on Wednesday, leaving at least 12 people dead, including a child.

Still images and aerial video footage appear to show the plane's left engine sitting just off the runway in Louisville, Kentucky.

Determining the cause of the crash will be part of an already-in-progress National Transportation Safety Board investigation.

A UPS cargo plane crashed near Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport. The McDonnell Douglas MD-11 was en route to Honolulu. The incident resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries. Emergency crews responded to the scene.

Dozens of federal aviation investigators are on the ground in Louisville searching the crash site's debris field, which covers nearly a half-mile area.

Footage of the crash, shared by NBC affiliate WLWT, showed flames shooting from the aircraft as it moved down the runway. A big ball of fire erupted as the plane continued to move forward, creating a plume of flames and smoke that quickly rose into the air.
