The United States Coast Guard (USCG) has chosen the Birmingham-Southern College campus as a new training facility.

The U.S. Coast Guard has selected the former Birmingham-Southern College campus for its new training center.

A retired U.S. Coast Guardsman is speaking about what the newly announced USCG training center in Birmingham will allow the branch to continue to improve on and innovate.

A second recruit training facility was needed because the Coast Guard is planning to add 15,000 new service members by 2028, DHS said.
