Reef fish and other marine species can breathe easier with the introduction of a fishing ban around Apo Reef, one of the world's largest coral reefs.

As part of a National Wetlands Strategy, Madagascar today designated more than one million hectares of freshwater ecosystems as Wetlands of International Importance under the Ramsar Convention.
