Orioles third baseman Jordan Westburg was hit with another injury Monday when he left the game in the first inning of their game in Boston.

Westburg left the game after rounding second base in the first inning. The Orioles used the phrase “right-ankle discomfort” when describing Westburg’s injury. Mansolino said the Orioles would wait to see how Westburg felt in the morning.

His trip to the injured list with the left oblique strain was his first time on the IL in his four-year career.

BOSTON — Adley Rutschman had never been on the injured list before this season. After ending that streak with a five-week stint caused by a left oblique strain in June, the Orioles catcher was scratched from their lineup again Tuesday against the Red Sox with right abdominal discomfort.

Coby Mayo and Samuel Basallo need at bats, but Ryan Mountcastle can help this team in the present and the future.
