The powers that be at Warner Bros. Discovery have put the “HBO” back into HBO Max, reversing an ill-fated experiment with just plain “Max.”

The company first announced the change to the streaming service during its Upfront presentation in May, and judging by this meme it shared, the media giant has a sense of humor about it. The streaming service was originally rebranded as Max in May of 2023 when it merged content from HBO Max and Discovery brands.

The platform was HBO to the max; all the pleasures of the erstwhile HBO Go, with the volume turned up. (Plus offerings from Cinemax, without the late-night softcore that Cinemax was once largely associated with.
