The Bishop of Huntingdon, Dagmar Winter, shared the sentiment and said: “Our prayers are an expression of love and commitment to what is good and right, an expression of hope in a God who is stronger than violence and darkness, and a commitment to living in a way where all human life is cherished.”
Olly Foster, another passenger, told the BBC an older man “blocked” the attacker from stabbing a young girl, sustaining wounds to his head and neck in the process. Foster said other passengers used their clothing to stem the bleeding.
The suspected Huntingdon train knifeman was “not known to counter-terrorism police, the security services or the Prevent programme,” says Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander. Amid reports that he had a history of mental-health issues and was known to the authorities.
