Malik Beasley is not out of the woods yet. A source with knowledge of the situation told The Post that the NBA veteran is still a “subject” of a federal probe related to sports gambling and could still be charged. Beasley could still face punishment from the league after its own investigation as well.

According to ESPN's Shams Charania, "Malik Beasley is no longer a target of the federal gambling investigation conducted by the Eastern District of New York," suddenly making him one of the most intriguing NBA free agents still available.

While Beasley may not be a target of the investigation, Dylan Svoboda of the New York Post reported on Tuesday that the 28-year-old is still a "subject" in the federal probe. That means Beasley is "within the scope of the grand jury’s investigation," according to the Department of Justice’s definition of a "subject" in an investigation.
