With the NHL offseason being in full swing for many teams, the coaching carousel saw the New York Rangers land a new bench boss on Friday. The Rangers have hired former Pittsburgh Penguins coach Mike Sullivan as the 38th coach in franchise history, the team announced on Friday.

General manager Chris Drury announced the move, bringing in the organization’s top candidate who was out of work for less than a full business week.

Whoever coaches the Penguins gets to coach Sidney Crosby. The owner, Fenway Sports Group, has deep pockets. Pittsburgh is one of America’s great hockey markets and boasts state-of-the-art practice facilities and a loyal fan base.
