For so many parents, frozen shrimp is a weeknight lifesaver—quick to cook, affordable, and something kids will actually eat without a fight. But this week, Walmart pulled certain shrimp from its shelves in 13 states after the FDA raised concerns about potential radioactive contamination.
Beyranevand says it’s possible that a particular food product could become contaminated if it was raised or farmed somewhere with elevated levels of Cs-137. Either way, she believes the breaded frozen shrimp recall is “definitely a cause for concern” for the food industry-at-large.
The recalled frozen shrimp were sent to 13 different states and were shipped into the country through four different ports.
