The Mets made a move to bolster their bullpen by promoting reliever Kevin Herget before their Wednesday game versus the Phillies.
The Mets got a surprising mic check on Monday night. The Phillies, visiting Citi Field to play their NL East rivals, caused a minutes-long delay in the top of the fifth inning when they claimed they were distracted by the glare off a parabolic microphone in the outfield.
The Mets come into the game 67-60, which puts them in second place in the NL East. That puts them seven games behind the Philadelphia Phillies.
Mets catcher Francisco Alvarez appeared set for a quick return from the injured list on Wednesday. And then, the unthinkable happened: He was pulled from a game with another hand injury.
