Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear is joining Democratic state officials in a legal action against President Donald Trump’s deployment of National Guard troops in U.S. cities and calling on Republican governors to also speak out against what Beshear called “political stunts.

The US military has increased its military presence in the Caribbean and Eastern Pacific as the Trump administration says it is targeting suspected drug trafficking efforts.

Sen. Sullivan says the crime rate justifies sending in the troops. Sen. Lisa Murkowski, on the other hand, considers it inappropriate.
