The devastating floods sweeping across Southeast Asia have killed over two hundred and fifty people in Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia. Days of heavy rain have inundated nine provinces in Thailand and eight states in Malaysia and forced tens of thousands of people to flee their homes.
BANGKOK: The death toll from floods across southern Thailand has risen to 145, with more than 100 people killed in hard-hit Songkhla province alone, the government said on Friday (Nov 28). Devastating flooding has overwhelmed southern Thailand this week, particularly in Hat Yai district, near the border with Malaysia.
The Thai city of Hat Yai received its heaviest rainfall in 300 years, while mudslides killed dozens on the Indonesian island of Sumatra.
The deluges and flash floods of the past week have capped off an unusually destructive wet season in Southeast Asia.
