Polls are closing in Texas, North Carolina and Arkansas in the first midterm primary of 2026. Republicans and Democrats look for clues on the nation's temperament.

North Carolina’s state election board has a result dashboard that voters can check for updates. Polls are normally scheduled to close at 7:30 p.m. Eastern, but the board extended voting by an hour at a precinct in Halifax County that opened late, and said it would not publish any results in the state until all polls are closed at 8:30 p.m.

Texas Republicans are set for a heated primary race on March 3. Four-term Sen. John Cornyn is trying to hang on in a Congressional primary for his Senate seat against state Attorney General Ken Paxton and Rep. Wesley Hunt. Paxton has the polling lead, but Senate GOP leaders are trying to help Cornyn − and President Trump has not yet taken a side
