Los Angeles Dodgers starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto made some MLB history with back-to-back postseason complete games, his latest in Game 2 of the World Series.
Yamamoto has thrown two straight complete games in the postseason, after a regular season in which the entire league produced only 29. His second CG — a four-hit, 105-pitch masterpiece in the Dodgers’ 5-1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday night, tying the World Series at one game each — was arguably more breathtaking than the first.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto is the first Dodgers pitcher in nearly 40 years to throw back-to-back complete games in the playoffs in a 5-1 win over the Blue Jays in Game 2 of the World Series.
Once again, when he was done, the opponent was quiet. Yamamoto had thrown his second complete game of the postseason in a row. This time in a 5-1 Dodgers win that evened the 2025 World Series against the Blue Jays at 1-1. More dominance. Same ethos.
