Alabama starts the 2025 season on Saturday, Aug. 30, at Florida State. The Tide also host Wisconsin during nonconference play before getting their SEC season underway. It’ll be important for DeBoer to get off to a hot start in those games to keep the heat off of him.

Caleb Downs was one of the most sought-after recruits in the 2023 recruiting class. The Georgia native ultimately decided to join legendary coach Nick Saban at Alabama. Downs made an immediate impact as a true freshman, collecting 107 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, and 2 interceptions in 2023.

Alabama is losing its top two tight ends this season C.J. Dippre and Robbie Ouzts. Dippre, a former transfer from Maryland, finished his career with 65 catches for 782 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns. Ouzts played all four seasons at Alabama where he hauled in 16 passes for 192 yards and three receiving touchdowns.

Following a disappointing year, Alabama made a coaching move that should impact the defense. The Crimson Tide announced the hiring of assistant defensive backs coach Jason Jones. "Welcome back to Tuscaloosa," posted Alabama.
