Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) on Friday wrote to Attorney General Pam Bondi asking if she is under investigation for advising constituents on how to communicate with immigration officers. Why it matters: Ocasio-Cortez is not the first congressional Democrat to accuse the Trump administration of unfairly targeting them with the threat of federal prosecution.

The congresswoman wants to know if the agency “has yielded to political pressure and attempts to weaponize the agency against elected officials whose speech they disagree with.”

Ocasio-Cortez, who claimed her First Amendment rights are under attack, has yet to receive a notice from the Justice Department about her conduct.
