Instead, Mamdani endorsed Avila Chevalier, a 32-year-old with no political experience and a string of problematic old tweets (“Fuck Kamala Harris” read one, while another said that Joe Biden was a “rapist”) and who still called for ending all deportations and for abolishing the police. He then rolled out his state-legislative slate.
