The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on Monday it opened a recall query covering about 1.2 million Stellantis' Ram trucks over concerns related to the transmission. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the federal agency within the Department of Transportation responsible for automotive safety, has opened a new investigation looking into a Ram defect that may not have been remedied by a previous recall.

The federal safety agency has received 14 vehicle-owner complaints and six death and injury reports connected to potentially faulty recall fixes.
