The 17th Anniversary of the Salt Lake City Tornado August 11, 1999 an extremely rare F2 tornado struck downtown Salt Lake City causing extensive damage and injury during the busy National Outdoor Retailers Convention. Sadly, the powerful F2 tornado caused 1 fatality (the 2nd known tornado fatality in Utah history). The total estimated damages were 170 million dollars.
