It's super important to get the rope length right when placing crab pots… Too short and your pot will lift and float away = pot lost. Too long and it can get picked up by a passing prop = pot lost. I always keep a variety of different length ropes with me when I'm crabbing, just in case I decide to go and crab deeper, or I'm in the shallows and don't need/want a 10m piece of rope laying around in the water. It just makes your day a hell of a lot easier, and you'll always have spares on board inc

You're allowed to attach the rope to a tree but you MUST have your name on a tag at the end of the line, like you would a float, and place it above the high tide water line.
