Southern Ring planetary nebula (NGC 3132 - C74) The Nebula is about 2,500 light-years away from Earth, in the direction of the Vela constellation, and is an expanding gas cloud that surrounds a star at the end of its life. In addition to being known as the Southern Ring, it is also called by some as the 8 Explosions Nebula.
