On April 19, 1943, the Warsaw ghetto uprising began when Jews imprisoned in the Warsaw Ghetto resisted Nazi efforts to liquidate the ghetto. The uprising is considered to be the largest act of Jewish resistance during World War II. Sol Liber was among the fighters who held the Germans off for 27 days.
