The black-footed ferret is North America’s most endangered mammal. Thanks to conservation efforts, 300 ferrets have been released to six Colorado sites. April Estep, CPW’s wildlife biologist for the Southeast Region and intern Brianna Fett led the latest release in Holly, Colorado. It’s too early to tell the project’s success, but the first wild-born kit (baby ferret) was born in 2015 with several more born thereafter.
