Before a female sea turtle digs her egg chamber, she clears and shapes the sand with her body. We call the resulting hollow in the sand ‘body pit’, the first step of building an actual nest. In Costa Rica the locals often call it often ‘hacer la cama’ in Spanish (making the bed). Not quite an angel 👼, but just as sweet.☺️ | Christine Figgener
