Happy Moth Week! We recently found a snowberry clearwing moth (Hemaris diffinis) sipping nectar from the bottlebrush buckeye (Aesculus parviflora). This species of sphinx moth mimics a bumblebee, and they look a little like a hummingbird as well. We usually see one or two foraging the buckeye flowers in the daytime with the bees and butterflies. If you grow their larval host plant, coral honeysuckle (Lonicera sempervirens), you’ll surely have them in your habitat garden too! | Ruffner Mountain
